Heavy octagonal smoothbore steel barrel fitted with sights on top flat, hooked breech. Underside fitted with solid wood rib and brass ramrod ferrules. Flat lockplate has been converted to percussion, center marked "W. SPIES/WARRANTED" and engraved with other designs. Brass furniture including endcap, small oval sideplate, buttplate, and trigger guard. Silver inlaid plaques on both sides of buttstock. Featuring engraved birds and hunting scenes. Features double set triggers, and birds eye maple stock with checkered wrist and relief cheekpiece on left side. CONDITION: Fair. All steel components retain a very dark patina with some minor areas of corrosion and edge wear. Most furniture is unpolished, silver inlay of right side of buttstock has been polished. Stock with some losses at toe and on forend, shows heavy wear with some cracks due to stress, and small wrist escutcheon is absent.
