Lot consists of two Japanese Type 99 "Last Ditch" & Type 38 bolt action rifles. (A) Type 99 Series 7 manufactured by Nagoya between 1939 to 1945. Bolt does no match receiver, but matches itself. "Last Ditch" bolt with serrated bolt safety. Aircraft sights are missing wings. Mum has been obliterated. Comes with a Jinsen Arsenal manufactured bayonet. (B) Type 38 manufactured by Koishikawa between 1906 to 1935. Numbers do not match. Mum is present with light pitting on the top. Dust cover is present. Checkered bolt safety. CONDITION: Metal components retain 85% of original factory applied finish with thinning and losses around receiver. Bolt finish shows average wear. Light pitting and corrosion on end of barrel near muzzle. Wood retains nearly all factory applied varnish with nicks and scattered handling marks all around. Small hairline crack of 2 - 1/4" on right side of stock near trigger. 4" hairline crack on left side of stock near trigger. Bright and shiny bore with well defined rifling throughout. Action is smooth and locks up tightly. Bayonet retains 90% of original factory applied finish with slight wear and thinning the length of the blade. Right grip on bayonet has slight loss to wood on the butt. (B) Metal components retain 50% of original factory applied finish with heavy thinning and loss to finish all around. Dust cover is heavily corroded and pitted, with the barrel and receiver showing signs of light pitting. Wood retains most of its factory applied varnish, showing many scattered handling marks and handling marks all around. Bright bore with well defined rifling throughout. Action is smooth and locks up tightly. MW
