One of the most popular rifles for collectors to come out of the Russian World War II theatre, was invented by Fyedo Vessilevich Tokarev who designed both the 1938 and 1940 Models. The model 1940 was an improved semi-automatic version of the 1938 with half stock, half length slotted handguard, and sheet metal handguard with muzzle brake. It came with a standard ten round magazine, weighed 8.5lbs and had a built in scope rail so that a scope could easily be added and removed, making this a widely popular high capacity sniper rifle widely used in the Battle of Stalingrad. The magazine is period and not numbered to gun. Metal parts show various numbers. CONDITION: There is a repaired small hairline crack at wrist, otherwise the stock is in excellent condition. Bore is dark with strong rifling Metal is basically a combination of blue and gunmetal grey finish. Mechanics function properly.
