Offered is a standard late Indian Wars Model 1884 United States issue trapdoor rifle. Features hooded front sight, rod bayonet, 1884 rear sight. Block is stamped 1884. "VP" eagle proof on left side of barrel. US Springfield lock. Full length walnut stock with a beautiful "SWP 1893" (Sam Porter) cartouche. Comes with an original period single frog leather sling. CONDITION: All metal finish is a speckled gunmetal grey patina with age spots and some browning. Razor sharp legends. Stock is excellent with a lovely piece of wood with the usual handling marks. Strong rifled bore, fine action. A lovely late Indian Wars trapdoor that was used and well cared for and not a state militia closet queen.
