The basis of this custom rifle was a 1918 Springfield military action to which a new barrel was fitted. It was manufactured with no rear sight and a ramp front sight installed. While the caliber on this gun is not marked, a round of .30-06 Springfield feeds and extracts perfectly. It was fitted with a custom stock, similar to the shape and style of Weatherby, with a contrasting forend, pistol grip cap, Monte Carlo comb, rollover cheekpiece, and waffle pad. The checkering, if you can call it that, is poorly executed, which is unfortunate as the rest of the stock has a nice form and has a beautiful contrasting inlays on the base and on the right side of stock. This rifle deserves a better classic style stock but would be fine for hunting. The trigger guard and floor plate are surplus World War II Springfield pressed steel. CONDITION: Action and bore are fine. Metal retains virtually all of its reapplied blue finish. It is mounted with an S&K scope base and Tasco scope.
