February 5, 6, & 7, 2019 Field & Range Firearms
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/7/2019
Lot consists of: Gun (A) Spandau manufactured in 1915 and features all matching numbers, usual dings to stock, a lack of finish that leaves the gun essentially grey patina, strong rifled barrel, walnut stock and forend. Barrel is stamped with an S for updated cartridge. An excellent example of an unadulterated true World War I German military rife. Gun (B) Manufactured in 1917 at the Mauser factory. It is import stamped and has mismatched numbers. It has been reblued. Strong bore, excellent stock, period leather sling. This is a great chance to buy one all original collector rifle and a partner that would be perfect for shooting. A great pair of iconic German World War I rifles that saw real field use. Referred to as the Gewher 98, these were the standard German bolt action rifles for World War I. The Lange Vizier rear sight is referred to by collectors as the "roller coaster" sight, and were introduced in 1898 and made till 1918. They were built by several government factories and were dated on the bridge.
