"US Trenton" stamped on lock with 1863. Barrel is dated 1864 with "VP" eagle head proof. "NJ" New Jersey militia stamp on left side of barrel. Features two leaf folding sight, three band, cleaning rod, sling swivels, full length walnut stock. CONDITION: All metal is in the white with age freckling. Wood is very good with numerous dings. No visible cartouche. Fine working order. Strong, clean, near mint bore. Fine action. This is a great example of a scarce Civil War New Jersey militia contract musket.
