Ballard features full heavy round barrel, tube front sight, sporting rear sight, long range tang sight, double set triggers, walnut Schnabel forend, straight grip walnut stock with checkered steel buttplate, and ring and lever. The Ballard No. 1-3/4 Far West Model is one of the rarest if not the rarest of Ballard production rifles and they were only available somewhere from mid 1877 to 1880 according to as described in the book “Ballard: The Great American Single Shot Rifle” by John T. Dutcher. It’s a very scarce and hard to find Ballard and rarely comes up for sale CONDITION: This gun has been restocked and restored. Barrel retains nearly all of its reapplied rust blue. Frame, lever, block and hammer retain all of the reapplied case colors. The new stocks are in as new condition with oil finish. The owner of this rifle must have been a huge man as the length of pull from front trigger to back of stock is 16-1/2". It would be easily converted for a normal sized person by removing 2" off the buttstock and reapplying the buttplate. Bore and action are like new. Beautiful rifle.
