Lock is stamped "US MODEL 1888", left side of barrel has "VP" eagle head proof. Standard features include post front sight, 1884 rear sight, rod bayonet, two bands, sling swivel on front band and trigger guard, walnut stock with an SWP 1891 cartouche for Samuel Porter, US buttplate, Springfield Eagle on lockplate, company and rack stamped on right side of barrel, G company 16, top of comb stamped 6F18. The G Company is best remembered as one of the companies under Major Reno during the Battle of Little Big Horn, even though this gun was manufactured after the Battle of Little Big Horn. CONDITION: Barrel is pleasing mixture of soft patina with some light freckling. There are a couple of spots of case color on stock. 30% original high polish blue on side plate, 40% shiny blue starting to drift on hammer, brown patina on trigger guard, walnut stock is excellent with usual minor bruises with nice wood to metal fit. Overall, an extremely handsome untouched unit marked 1884 Trapdoor with fine bore and action.
