This fine post Korean War rifle was manufactured from 1955 to 1957. Barrel is H&R 1-56 dated, after the end of hostilities in Korea. Pistol grip walnut stock has all matching wood with block circle P on wrist, small 3/8 3 star DOD stamp, which was used after December 1953 (correct). Has a Type IV rear sight, knob stamped "HRA" (correct). Trigger housing stamped "652-8290 HRA N" (correct). Bolt is heat block stamped "652-8287 HRA" (correct). All major parts on this gun are matching for a 1956 production M1 Garand. This was a CMP offering and one of the better ones we've seen. Gun has all CMP paperwork indicating a purchase date 2006 and that it was a Greek issue by serial number block. CONDITION: Wood is excellent with matching color, retains virtually all of the arsenal finish. ME reading: 1. Fine bore with strong rifling packed with cosmoline, rifle is packed inside with cosmoline which will require a field strip and cleaning before use. Metal retains nearly all of the dark green tint arsenal parkerized finish. A beautiful rifle.
