Referred to as the Model 1871 Rolling Block US Army rifle, stamped on left side of frame. Right side of frame is stamped "1872" with eagle. This was issued with a case colored frame, all other hardware in the white, two piece full length walnut stock. Approximately 10,000 of these rifles were produced in 1871 and 1872 under a royalty agreement with Remington Arms Corp. Other features include folding ladder type military rear sight, cleaning rod and sling swivels. CONDITION: Frame has sharp legends but case colors have mostly silvered out. Barrel is a clean gunmetal grey. Stocks are excellent; left side has a very strong "ESA" cartouche for Erskin S. Allen. Mirror bore. Short production military rifle with extremely strong action in fine condition, not to mention these .50 calibers are a lot of fun to shoot.
