Lot consists of: Gun (A) Interesting Maynard sporting rifle with adjustable rear sight and extremely long octagonal to round barrel, 32". The frame dated 1873 with Maynard patent dates, and "MANUFACTURED BY MASS. ARMS CO, CHICOPEE FALLS." Barrel with rear sight grove blocked and front sight missing. CONDITION: Mostly smooth brown patina, frame also has crisp markings. Gun will not stay on cock. Deluxe walnut full stock with excellent figure retaining what appears to be considerable original varnish; one tight crack on left side of tang. Fancy German silver patchbox on right. Bore is rusty but has good rifle and will clean well. Frame screw is distorted and requires attention. This gun is worthy of restoration. Gun (B) Double barrel combination rifle shotgun appears to be by J. R. Robson, Buffalo New York. Heavy round rifle barrel is fitted with front and rear rifle sight, double set trigger and dolphin hammers. Checkered deluxe walnut half stock with steel patchbox and crescent butt, Schuetzen style trigger guard. CONDITION: Locks are in good condition with smooth brown patina. Dolphin hammer appear to be original. Barrels are smooth brown patina throughout with some battering on one side towards breech. Checkered walnut full stock in good condition. Set trigger and locks require adjustment in order to work properly. Rifled barrel has strong rifling and will clean well. Shotgun barrel is good, with little or no pitting. Ramrod possible original. An interesting combination gun by a Buffalo maker.
