Lot consists of: Gun (A) Pattern 1853 Enfield rifled musket. This was one of the most popular guns imported during the Civil War and was used by Union and Confederate troops alike. Standard configuration with flip up adjustable leaf sight and British proofs at breech. Lock stamped with crown at tail and in center "1861/TOWER". Complete with original ramrod. CONDITION: Good to very good. Barrel retains a light grey patina with some scattered spotting. other steel components retain a dark grey even patina. Nipple is missing. Brass furniture retains a dark unpolished patina. Stock shows some scattered marks from use. Gun (B) Continental percussion musket with possible Confederate use. Other muskets of this pattern are known to be marked "City of Richmond". Unmarked barrel. Lock stamped deeply "861" in center and with indistinct proof mark at tail. Stock deeply carved with large initials "JJW" at left side of butt. CONDITION: Good. All steel components retain a dark patina. Rear sight is absent. Stock with some scattered marks from use. A nice lot of possibly Confederate Civil War muskets.
