Manufactured in 1918 with finger grooved two pin stock and Type III handguard. Fine checkered buttplate with trap. Concave dished sight adjustment knobs on rear sight. Barrel is USMC 1-44 dated with Sedgley circle "S" stamp. Receiver has the Marine Corps large gas port drilled into left side of receiver. These rifles were rebuilt and utilized by the United States Marine Corps for use during World War II and for the planned invasion of Japan. This rifle serial number 292017 just makes the shootable serial number range that started at serial number 285507 after the improved heat treatment was implemented. CONDITION: Good, as completely arsenal refinished. The bore is very good, bright and shiny with sharp lands and grooves. The action works properly and smoothly. The wood stocks have numerous minor bruises and imperfections from use and storage but are solid and functional. The exterior finish is very good with most all of the late grey parkerized finish remaining. Rifle comes with a certificate from the CMP indicating the rifle was sold January 2000.
