These weapons were introduced for use in World War II and remained popular guns in the field for Korea and Vietnam. Stamped on right side of receiver is "US" with flaming bomb with an additional flaming bomb stamped on top of barrel. This US riot gun falls into the serial range of the trench guns from 940000 to 1036000. They were finished in the typical commercial factory blue finish. Features takedown action, commercial blue finish, corn cob walnut forend, pistol grip walnut stock with comb flutes and Winchester black composite monogrammed buttplate. Has matching numbers. CONDITION: Flashes of blue on frame but all metal is basically a smooth, homogeneous light grey patina with light freckling. Wood is excellent but there is no inspector stamp on stock which would indicate most likely a field replacement long ago since the stock is virtually unsealed from its frame at wrist. The only visible alteration is that the muzzle has been threaded and the front bead removed for either a choke, silencer or flash suppressor and appears to have been done period to the gun. Mirror bore and fine action. Great example of a well-used US trench gun that could have seen service in World War II as well as Korea and up to Vietnam.
