Left side of the barrel is stamped "CYL" with "AM(anchor)" barrel date code. Left side of frame is stamped "US" with flaming bomb. Top of barrel is stamped "US" with Ordnance bomb. The Remington Model 11, issued during World War II, was never available in riot gun configuration. This shotgun falls in the first contract serial range 455000 to 500000. Features late war brushed blue finish, late production plain receiver, standard bead front sight. Stock is cartouched with the crossed cannons and the "FJA" Frank Atwood stamp. Left side of frame is stamped "MILITARY FINISH" which indicates the less polished brush blue finish. Late production guns like this exhibited plain unadorned unfinished walnut and the gripping groove was eliminated on forend. Bolt is stamped "MODEL 11". Barrel is numbered to match receiver on bottom. Loading instruction sticker can be found under the forearm. CONDITION: 95% original factory brushed blue finish with just minor handling marks. We did not remove the stock to checker serial number; it does not appear to have ever been removed from shotgun with the tight oil and grease line that has not been broken, and we chose not to risk removal. It is absolutely original to this gun having never been removed. You will see for yourself when you see the bond between the oil line and the stock which is proud to metal, never sanded with only a couple minor handling marks. Mirror bore and fine action. Stellar example of an all original World War II riot gun.
