The shipping information for this serial number is simply listed as 1980 issued to James Noonan in 1980. Noonan purchased this gun February 19th, 1980 for $147 and the original receipt is included. Noonan never inscribed the nameplate. Rock Island Arsenal received approval to build a new General Officer's model as the existing supply of Officer's Model were nearly exhausted. The result was a shortened Model 1911A1 with National Match triggers, a drilled spring plug to allow a longer spring, a tighter and shorter bushing was installed, and the recoil guide became two piece and spring loaded. New frame and had gold filled markings. Front strap was checkered in National Match style. Mainspring housing has six horizontal cuts, National Match fixed sights, stocks were made by Herrett's. Left side has a plate for the general's name to be engraved. Right side has "RIA" escutcheon embedded. A total of 1,004 of these pistols were made before being replaced by the Beretta M9. Pistols were on loan for active service and could be purchased for $147 upon retirement. No official manual was ever produced for the M15. CONDITION: Has original blue finish. Light drag takedown line but is in near new condition inside and out.
