Offered is a very high condition, all original US Model 1911. Original barrel has the intertwined "HP", first used at serial 210000; which is a little later than the original barrel. All early features include small half moon front sight, beveled edge rear sight with U notch, wide spur checkered hammer, checkered slide stop and safety, flat mainspring housing loop, long smooth trigger, diamond checkered walnut grips, and plain base pinned bottom two tone tempered magazine. Last patent date on slide is 1911, which transitioned in 1914 to the 1913 date. "WGP" inspector stamp in oval for Walter G. Penfield (1911-1914). Right side of slide is stamped "MODEL of 1911 US ARMY". CONDITION: Pony on left is only 50% visible, this lack of pony in the brushed finish would indicated a World War I arsenal refinish but there are no arsenal marks, but work was period as you can see the brown freckling and patina coming through the finish, indicating it was definitely arsenal done at the time. Straps are thinning. Grips are very good to excellent with some minor denting on right side. Fine action. Strong lands with frosted grooves. Good, solid example of a pre-World War I pistol that was arsenal redone for the first war.
