Manufactured in 1917, just as America was entering the Great War and commercial sales were nearly non-existent, comes this period correct all original Colt Model 1911. Last patent date is 1913. Right side of slide has "COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE 45" and "GOVERNMENT MODEL" above serial number. All correct period parts to include small half moon front sight, beveled edge U notch rear sight, short checkered wide spur hammer, checkered slide stop and safety, flat mainspring housing with lanyard, long smooth trigger, diamond checkered walnut grips and a blank bottom pin base two tone tempered magazine. The only stamp on barrel is a "5" on bottom. CONDITION: It appears this pistol spent most of its life in a holster. The slide is basically brown-grey patina with sharp legends. Frame is a brown-grey patina with some age freckling blending with approximately 30% original factory blue finish. Very good bore and fine action. Not a closet queen but still a good, solid, well used and cared for early Commercial with no cancer.
