30" Shoe lump barrels are engraved with makers name and address along with "THE AVANT TOUT" on narrow game rib. Barrel flats are stamped with London nitro proofs along with 1984 London re-proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Bottoms of barrels are stamped with Arcus steel trademarks, and are fitted with spring housing for "Avant Tout" ejector system. Case hardened sideplated boxlock action features automatic safety, hidden crossbolt third fastener, and double triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved with 80% coverage nicely cut rose and scroll. Makers name is at the bottom of each sideplate. Top lever, floorplate, trigger plate, and trigger guard with matching scroll and rose, are blued. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Relatively plain European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15-1/2" over checkered wood butt on 1-1/4" lengthening piece. Stock features classic drop points, point pattern checkering on semi-diamond hand, and gold oval engraved "G". Matching splinter forend has Anson release. Gun is number "2" of a pair, with the number "2" engraved on rear portion of rib, and forend iron. CONDITION: Fine, as refinished. Barrels retain nearly all of a "best" re-black most likely done at time of re-proof. Action retains traces of original case hardening color where protected, and is mostly a pleasant silver to gray. Renewed blue is on other parts, engraving slightly softened. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their original finish with very light marks and scratches, with oil added as maintenance, and with installation of lengthening piece. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time. Gun is accompanied by green canvas leather trimmed vintage case lined in tan cloth with new red leather C&H label. Case contains a pair of Churchill marked snap caps, and some cleaning equipment.
