Made up until 1916, this model was at the top of the "Ideal" line. Many options were available. 30" No. 4 weight octagon barrel has all correct factory markings, and is fitted with spirit level adjustable front sight. Case hardened No. 44-1/2 action with double set triggers, correct wood paneled lever, and Stevens-Vernier windage adjustable tang sight with multi-aperture sighting disc, is engraved with 90% coverage large open shaded scroll within double line borders surrounding animal scenes on sides; running deer on left, and bear in woods on right. Semi-straight, nicely figured American walnut buttstock with heavy case hardened pronged No. 5 Schutzen buttplate featuring large right handed cheekpiece and fancy checkering pattern. Matching schnabeled forend attaches to barrel with two screws. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel retains approximately 90% original blue with sharp edge wear, and some thinning. Action retains approximately 80% original color, thinning around top on operating lever, and on high edges. Stocks retain over 90% of their original finish with numerous light scratches and marks. Two small chips between the edge of the buttplate and the comb of the stock. Checkering is dark. Buttplate retains most of its color, somewhat faded. Bore is very fine to excellent, a bit dark (may clean). Action is tight. Triggers work. A fine original rifle. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Francis Brown. TR
