This outstanding factory engraved Colt was a one gun shipment sent on June 4th, 1902 to J.F. Schmelzer & Sons Arms Co., Kansas City, Kansas. Shipped as a factory engraved example with blued finish, 4-3/4", .45 caliber with stocks not listed. The engraving is nearly full coverage and is distinctively the work of Cuno Helfricht or his shop. Matching serial number on frame, trigger guard and backstrap. Barrel is beautifully scroll engraved with punch dot background with razor sharp barrel address. Cylinder has light scroll with border decoration. Frame shows almost complete coverage engraving with various designs. The real Mother of Pearl grips feature beveled edges and steer head on right panel. CONDITION: Barrel has approximately 1" of wear on left side and light muzzle wear. There is also wear on side of housing, most likely from being in a holster. Frame has traces of case color and generous amounts of fire blue on screws. Cylinder has light high edge wear and some thinning on flats, still retaining 75% of the original Colt blue. Hammer retains approximately 70% of dulling case colors. Blue at top of backstrap and forward face of trigger guard, balance is soft patina. Grips are in excellent condition with a couple of minor chips. Action indexes and locks up like new. Near mint bore. This beautiful revolver exhibits all sharp engraving, no cancer, just some light, honest holster wear. Beautiful, Western shipped, factory engraved Helfricht Colt.
