This is a pre-letter series Colt Python with the correct diamond checkered, gold medallion, "smiley face" walnut grips. This is referred to as a 1st Model Python; the early pre-letter series Pythons were manufactured when the majority were purchased to be used and therefore far fewer exist in near new condition, as opposed to the thousands of new-in-box Pythons manufactured after the mid-70's of which more exist unused than used, as more and more collectors delineate between the mass produced letter series and the early pre-letter series. The prices paid for a Colt Python should reflect this difference and rarity. Features include vent rib, full lug, target sights, six shot, fluted cylinder, target hammer. CONDITION: Revolver shows a light drag line, otherwise in very fine condition. Cylinder face shows very little signs of having ever been fired. Grips are excellent. Mirror bore. Excellent action.
