Manufactured in 1951. Beretta Model 948 chambered for the .22 LR caliber. Owner purchased this gun from a long-time acquaintance of J. Edgar Hoover who reportedly received this gun as a gift from an Israeli security group. The unusual threaded barrel was apparently intended for suppressor or silencer use. The 948 is a lightweight modern version of the Model 1935 service pistol but chambered for the .22 LR caliber, alloy frame with steel barrel and slide. Black plastic commercial grips. CONDITION: Good overall with excellent bore and mechanics. Finish of alloy frame has faded to a light green. Slight finish loss on the slide at edges and high points.
