This cased set consists of two nearly identical London address British proofed Colt Model 1849 pocket revolvers. Gun (A) you will find full or partial matching numbers on frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder pin, cylinder, barrel, loading lever and wedge. Gun (B) You will find full or partial matching numbers on frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder pin, cylinder, barrel, loading lever and wedge. Both revolvers feature: "COLTS PATENT" stamp on left side of frame; barrels are stamped "ADDRESS COL COLT LONDON"; strong roll engraving on the cylinder of a stagecoach hold-up scene; every rear cylinder flat has the crown "V" inspector stamp; barrels have the double crown "V" on left side; and original one piece walnut grips. CONDITION: Gun (A) generous traces of silver plating on trigger guard. Gun (B) silver plating on trigger guard is mostly gone. Generous amounts of fire blue remain on screws of both guns. Neither frame retains any case colors and are basically grey patina. Barrels of both guns have browned to a soft patina. Both cylinders are basically soft patina with partial safety pins and original nipples. Both sets of grip retain the majority of their original varnish. Guns index correctly and exhibit strong rifling with some black powder residue. All lettering is razor sharp. The condition of both guns is nearly identical, and while not sequentially numbered, it is no doubt they traveled their lifetime as a pair. Both of these revolvers are listed as a 2nd Type manufactured in 1853. Come in the original double case lined in green velvet with a Colt brass two cavity mold, an English brass flask that features pheasants, Eley cap tin, two ebony handled turnscrews, and a steel and brass jag. Includes original case key. Very nice English double cased set.
