Conversion patented by Joseph and George Needham in London, England in 1867. Produced in limited numbers by Jenks & Sons of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania circa 1867. Side swinging door type breechloading action made using original 1865 marked US Springfield lock. Gun consists of standard 1863 Springfield parts with wood stock marked on left side with "IN". Standard sights and hardware with original steel ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good condition with all metal parts wearing to a silver patina. Good bore with some visible rifling. Stock has handling marks and usage dings. Mechanically sound and functions fine.
