Made in 1886, this lot features a Winchester Model 1873 rifle with octagonal barrel in rare .22 Short caliber. Full tube magazine with blued barrel and action. Lyman hooded front sight and carbine style rear with Winchester A-5 fine crosshair scope mounted in Winchester rings and bases. Plain walnut stocks with steel crescent buttplate. Brass elevator marked ".22 Cal Short". 3rd Model action with serrated dust cover. CONDITION: Barrel has worn to a silvery patina and has a shootable bore. Rear sight is replacement and while scope is original with good optics, probably a later addition. Front sight has rough appearance and is also probably a later addition. Action has been cleaned to a silver appearance. Wood has usage marks and dings with traces of original varnish. Mechanically solid except dust cover does not function correctly.
