Model 1895 Krag Carbine with 22" barrel. Falling into the desirable serial number range used by the "Rough Riders" of Teddy Roosevelt fame. Carbine stock has finger groove and carbine sling bar with very light indiscernible cartouche. Proper "C" marked carbine sight with elevation to 2000 yards on staff and 600 yards on base. Early oval cut-out around bolt in stock. Buttplate has small trap for oiler and three piece rod. It is believe that no more than 3,500 1895 dated carbines were produced. CONDITION: Good with barrel and receiver having turned a pleasant plumb patina. Bore is very fine being bright and shiny with slightly worn rifling. Action operates smoothly and properly. These early carbines have a very small survival rate and are rarely ever encountered. This is a very fine honest example with out any restoration.
