Barrel is stamped "SP" sans serifs, replacement barrel 1938-1941; slide has 1913 patent date with pony in center. Has the beveled edge rear sight with U notch. Left side of frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with eagle head proof. Right side of slide is stamped "MODEL OF 1911 US ARMY". All parts other than barrel are correct World War I including checkered safety and slide stop, checkered wide spur hammer, smooth backstrap with lanyard, long smooth trigger, diamond checkered walnut grips. Springfield eagle proof mark on left side of frame. CONDITION: Frame retains most of the original blue on sides, drifting to solid soft patina on strap and trigger guard. Slide retains approximately 50-60% blue, blending to soft patina. Razor sharp markings. Period correct two toned tempered pinned base magazine. Fine bore and action. Good example of a World War I Colt 1911.
