Features a six shot Single Action Army revolver marketed by Merwin Hulbert & Co. New York City, marked on the side and made by "The Hopkins and Allen Manufacturing Co. Norwich, Conn. U.S.A.". Made from circa 1876 to 1880 with only a few thousand produced. Gun is marked "Calibre Winchester 1873" on left side of frame. Blued barrel, frame and fluted cylinder with blade front sight. Bird's head grip with skull crusher lanyard loop and black hard rubber grips. Matching serial on frame under grip, cylinder and barrel; also scratched into right grip panel. Visible number 1046 on butt is assembly number. CONDITION: Blue has faded to brown and silver with no case left on hammer and trigger. Takedown was never battered. Barrel has good bore with visible rifling and minor residue. Grips are worn flat. Indexes and locks up fine. Merwin produced very few factory 2nd Model single actions, it is estimated less than 10% of production was finished in blue. Very nice, clean all original example of a rare Western revolver.
