Offered is a fairly scarce, unaltered Model 1892 Colt Army-Navy revolver. This is the only model that had the date as part of the grip following the first swing-out series, the 1889 Navy. This revolver was a civilian production model with no Army markings. Engraved on the bottom of the grips "CAPT J.T. SADLER" and "3D NYVI 1898". All other aspects of this revolver are commercial, including the finish in high polish blue. Apparently J.T. Sadler purchased his own weapon. According to the rosters, he was a captain in the 3rd New York Volunteer Infantry, Company L and was enlisted from May 1st to November 30th, 1898. A search of the archives in Washington will probably reveal more information than what is available on the internet. Features six shot fluted cylinder, blued finish, gutta percha grips with Colt pony, rosettes and stamped "COLT 1892" on both panels. CONDITION: Barrel and frame retains approximately 75-80% original blue, balance drifting. Cylinder is basically a blue-grey patina with finish in the flutes. Still has fire blue on trigger. Near mint grips. Action locks up tight as new. Near mint bore.
