Lot consists of two Japanese Arisaka models 99 and 38. (A) Type 99 Series 34 "Last Ditch" receiver manufactured by Toyo Kogyo between 1939 to 1945. Matching numbers include receiver and bolt. Mum has been obliterated and shows only a small portion of the right half. Iron sights are fixed and nonadjustable. Sling is reproduction. (B) Type 38 receiver manufactured by Koishikawa between 1906 to 1935. Matching numbers include receiver and bolt. Mum has been obliterated. Sling is of reproduction. CONDITION: (A) Gun retains 90% of factory applied finish with areas of loss at mum, and usual wear on bolt. Wood retains virtually all factory applied varnish. Wood is cracked on right side below receiver and looks to have been repaired once before. Stock shows scattered handling marks with most indentations showing on the rear stock. Bore is bright, lands and grooves are well defined. Action is smooth and locks up tightly. (B) Metal components retain 90% original finish showing usual wear on bolt and small scattered nicks to finish along barrel. Wood retains virtually all original varnish. Stock has large shrapnel damage on bottom of stock on the forward hand guard and many scattered handling marks all around. Bore is bright, but shows use. Lands and grooves are well defined.
