Lot consists of: Two Japanese Arisaka Type 99 and Type 38 bolt action rifles. (A) Type 99 Series 33 manufactured by Toyo Kogyo between 1939 to 1945. Receiver and bolt are not matching. Mum has been obliterated. Canvas Mosin Nagant sling is present. CONDITION: Metal components virtually retain 95% of factory applied blue finish. Usual wear on bolt, and mum area. Mum area has turned a gray patina and blends nicely with the finish. Wood retains nearly all factory applied varnish and shows small scattered handling marks all around. Mirror bore with well defined lands and grooves. Action is smooth and locks up tightly. Gun (B) Type 38 trainer rifle manufactured by Koishikawa between 1906 to 1935. Receiver and bolt are matching. Follower is not present. Mum is not present. Stock is marked with "19" and training school symbols. Sling is of reproduction. CONDITION: Metal components retain 85% of original factory applied finish with areas of wear on chamber, rear right side of receiver, barrel bands, light freckling on barrel, and normal wear on bolt. Wood retains virtually all factory applied varnish. Stock has scattered handling marks in indentations all round. Forward stock, left of barrel has a 2-1/2" chip missing. Right side under ejection port has a 1-1/2" chip missing. Large indentations left side with noticeable loss to the handgrip area. Bore is frosted, but still shows strong rifling. Action is smooth and locks up tightly. MW
