Good Winchester Model 1892 full octagon rifle in the most desired .44-40 caliber with Winchester verified proof on breech. CONDITION: Frame retains considerable original blue, mixing with brown patina and some minor pitting. Barrel and magazine tube are mostly smooth brown metal with some fairly deep pitting on flat approximately 2" back from the muzzle on barrel and 2-1/2" from front of magazine tube. Buttplate is smooth brown metal with some pitting and a few dents. Lever and hammer are smooth brown patina. Action is excellent; bore is fair with wear to rifling. Forend wood is good and fits well. Buttstock would rate good with the exception of a 1-1/2" chip on the right side just under the action. A nice Model 1892 rifle that would make an excellent shooter.
