Standard 24" octagonal barrel with standard front and rear sights, and rifle butt. CONDITION: Action is mostly smooth grey metal with good markings at tang; "MODEL 1873" and serial number clearly visible. Octagonal barrel with good markings, no significant pitting, some wiped on finish. Magazine tube matches condition of barrel. Dust cover is missing a screw. Action is a bit sticky. Bore is good with only minor erosion towards barrel and sharp rifling. Forend wood is good and full dimension. Butt is also full dimensions and fits tightly with scattered dents and one fairly significant dent on one side. Altogether a most acceptable example of the gun that won the West.
