Lot consists of: Two rifles struck with the crown over "VR". Gun (A) 1877 dated with original ramrod and sling swivels. CONDITION: Retains considerable original arsenal bluing. Stock has been cleaned but British Board of Ordnance marks are still visible. Action is excellent; bore is crisp. Gun (B) with original ramrod. CONDITION: Mostly smooth brown patina on all steel parts. Stock with usual military dents but fairly clear British Board of Ordinance stamps. Excellent action; brilliant bore. Both examples are far better than average and these are becoming rather difficult to find, and are both acceptable examples of the classic rifle used throughout the British Empire in the latter half of the 19th century.
