Custom 3/4 coverage engraved Smith & Wesson Model 29-2 manufactured between 1966 and 1967. Coin finished with scroll and vine coverage at muzzle and breech end of barrel with gold bands inlaid at muzzle and on sides of sighting rib. Frame is extensively engraved in scroll and vine with gold inlaid game scenes of mountain lion on right side of frame, a gold inlaid charging bear on left side of frame and a Dahl sheeps head on trigger guard. A wonderfully executed buttcap has been added with tight scroll and vine border with an American Eagle motif inlaid in gold. A gold inlay of a Native American is at top of backstrap. The cylinder is engraved in matching scroll and vine with a gold inlaid border surrounding all six flutes and banding the rear of the cylinder. The hammer, trigger, cylinder latch and ejection rod have all been embellished in gold electroplate. CONDITION: Two piece smooth elephant ivory grips have been expertly fitted and display very attractive age lines. Truly an amazing amount of work has been performed to make this revolver into a piece of mechanical art. Displayed in a fitted glass front wood case with allowance for cartridges.
