A. H. Fox made an estimated 568 single barrel trap guns, and only about 75 in grade "K". This very well preserved example has 32" barrel with raised, matted, ventilated rib, with all correct factory address and steel type engravings, as well as nicely cut scroll on breech end. Barrel flat with grade and serial number has damascened edges. Case hardened action is engraved with 70% coverage large open scrolling acanthus. "FOX" is on each side. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Nicely marbled and lightly figured European walnut Fox capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14 - 3/8" over leather faced Silver type pad. Side panels are checkered and modified point pattern checkering at grip has ribbons through pattern. Matching long reverse tapered trap ejector forend has Deeley type release. CONDITION: This gun appears to be nearly pristine, but the possibility exists that it's a diabolically good refinish. Barrel retains over 96% excellent quality blue, with only a few light assembly marks. Action retains over 90% of what appears to be original case hardening color, silvered on top tang, thumbpiece, and trigger guard tang, as well as on high edges of engraving, which shows no sign of subsequent polishing. Stocks retain nearly all of a hand rubbed oil finish with only a few light handling marks. Checkering remains light in color. Bore is excellent. Action is tight. Ejector is strong. A lovely Fox.
