This revolver is also referred to as the Model 1926 HE or the Pre-War Wolf & Klar Model. It is a .44 Smith & Wesson special, double action revolver built on the square butt N frame with five screws and pinned barrel. Its serial number overlaps the 2nd Model. The hammer is stamped "REG US PAT OFF" It is reported that Smith & Wesson only produced 4,976 of these revolvers from 1926 to 1941. According to the factory letter, this revolver was shipped August 8th, 1938 to Cullum & Boren of Dallas, Texas. It mentions neither the finish nor the barrel length, just that they did produce quantities of 4", 5" and 6-1/2" revolvers. Inside the grips is stamped "B" for blue and the gun is now fully nickel plated. The grips are a pair of 1950's Coke bottle diamond silver medallion checkered walnut grips that are highly collectible in their own right as they would be proper on an early pre-Model 29. This gun would have come with the small model pre-war diamond checkered walnut grips. It is not marked inside as factory refinished so we must assume it was done privately, but they managed to keep the markings very sharp. CONDITION: Shows a light drag line and couple of flecks off cylinder, but still retains the majority of the reapplied nickel finish. Grips are excellent with only one little chip. Strong, clean rifled bore. Smooth action. Excellent example of a Texas shipped and fairly hard to find model.
