This nicely made fowler is made in an early style and features a tapered round smoothbore barrel, breech marked with partially visable makers mark on left side. The flat stamp engraved percussion lock plate is marked "I. PLOXELL" in the center. Features plain brass furniture and a brass trigger, small vacant German silverwrist escutcheon. Stock is full length and of plain walnut, in the style of a New England militia musket. The brass tipped wooden ram rod is a contemporary replacement. CONDITION: Very good. This gun is in as found condition and the lock is in its original percussion configuration. Barrel and lock retain a dark brown patina. Brass retains a pleasing unpolished patina. The stock is very good with a few scattered marks from use, one minor chip on right side of barrel tang and minor chipping around lock plate. A very attractive New England Fowler.
