Made from 1868-72. Block is stamped "1870 US" with eagle head. Lock is dated 1863 with "US" and eagle. Rear sight is 1868 style. Left side of stock has four sharp cartouche stamps; two are "ESA" for Erskine Allin, "FWS" for Frederick Sanderson, and "TBH" for Thomas B. Hawks. Matching serial number on left side of barrel and frame. Barrel and other parts finished in the white with case color hammer and lock with oil quenched block. Twin bands and swivels. CONDITION: Lock and hammer retain 85% case colors. Block is dull black. All other metal is bright. Stock is near mint with just a few handling marks. Mirror bore. Comes with original leather sling that features a single brass hook and two keepers. This is the finest condition Model 1868 we have seen. Never issued or used. Incredible.
