Standard issue Indian Wars Trapdoor rifle. Features two barrel bands, post front sight, and 1873 pinned rear sight. "VP" proof on right side of barrel. Block dated 1873 with non-dated Springfield eagle on sideplate. Walnut stock with strong and sharp visible "ESA" Erskine Allin cartouche and visible script "P" on wrist. CONDITION: All legends are sharp. Barrel has smooth patina mixing with soft blue. Block has no case colors. Stock has minor usual bumps and bruises. Rifling is sharp and clean. Buttplate has no trapdoor. A nice example of an early, five digit 1873. Comes with original period leather sling. Single brass frog with two keepers, stamped "US".
