The offered rifle is for a collector that simply wants the best condition trapdoor money can buy. This example is dated 1886 making it slightly over 130 years. It is a standard US issue in all respects with 1884 rear sight, ramrod (not bayonet), finished in blue with case colored block that is dated 1873, and full length walnut stock. Stock has cartouche of Samuel Porter and dated 1886 with cursive "P" on wrist. Lock has US eagle but is not dated. No trapdoor. CONDITION: Hint of muzzle wear. Blue is rich and even on barrel bands with the only real blue wear on buttplate, which retains 80% original finish with wear on toe and heel. Block still has 99% bright colors intact. Walnut stocks are near mint with a few handling marks. Mirror new bore. Comes with an unmarked original leather period sling; made with single brass frog and two keepers.
