The offered rifle is for a collector that simply wants the best condition trapdoor money can buy. This example is dated 1886, making it slightly over 130 years. It is a standard US issue in all respects with 1889 rear sight, ramrod (not bayonet), blue finish, case color 1873 dated block, and full length walnut stock. No trapdoor. Lock has US eagle but is not dated. Razor sharp "SWP" Samuel Porter cartouche dated 1886, with cursive "P" on wrist. CONDITION: There is a hint of muzzle wear. Rich blue, even on barrel bands with the only real wear on buttplate to toe and heel, otherwise retains 80% original finish. Walnut stocks are near mint with a few handling marks. Block still has 99% bright colors intact. Mirror new bore. Comes with an original leather period sling, not maker marked; made with single brass frog and two keepers.
