Standard issue high condition Indian Wars Trapdoor rifle. Features two barrel bands, post front sight, 1884 rear sight, and walnut stock. "VP" proof on right side of barrel. Block dated 1884. Springfield eagle on sideplate, not dated. Walnut stock with strong "SWP 1889" Samuel Porter cartouche and script "P" on wrist. CONDITION: All legends are sharp. Barrel retains 85% blue drifting patina and a bit more thinning forward of the barrel band. Block has some nice case colors still intact. Stock has minor usual bumps and bruises. Rifling is sharp and clean. A nice example. Comes with original period leather sling; single brass hook with two keepers, stamped "WATERVLIET ARSENAL".
