Offered is a fine "JSA 1897" (John Adams) standard issue rifle. It is getting tough to find a high condition original 1896 Krag rifle dated prior to the Spanish-American War, and therefore possible to have seen action in that short but famous conflict. This rifle features all standard features and remains in superb condition. CONDITION: The walnut stock is near mint with minor handling marks and still has the raised grain. The barrel retains nearly all of its original blue that, under bright light, you can see the brown patina coming through and blending. The extractor still has most of its original nitre blue finish. Frame has silvered out with no colors. Trigger guard is soft patina with age spotting. Strong clean bore and the slickest action of any military rifle ever made. The beautiful wood grain and color is equal to a fine sporting rifle.
