This is six groove .50-70 conversion of a percussion era Sharps Civil War carbine, as US issued during the Indian Wars. Features round barrel, post front sight, Lawrence rear sight, saddle ring and bar, old tape priming system, walnut stocks. "EAW" inspector stamp on left side of barrel. Unit number 13 stamped on receiver bridge. Strong visible "DFC" David Clark ribbon on left side of stock. Brass tack reads "13" on stock. CONDITION: Barrel retains a 90% clean mix of blue drifting patina. Frame still has 60% bright case colors intact and fire blue on screws. Old tape priming system intact. Sharp legends. Stocks are excellent to near mint with minor bruises. Rifling is mirror sharp. An excellent, all original, lightly used, smooth example of a carbine that saw use in the Civil War, returned to the arsenal where it was updated for cartridge use and then used on the American Frontiers. A piece of US history that led to the expansion of the states after the devastating Civil War.
