This is three groove .50-70 conversion of a percussion era Sharps Civil War carbine as US issued during the Indian Wars. Features round barrel, post front sight, Lawrence rear sight, saddle ring and bar, old tape priming system intact, and walnut stocks. "EAW" inspector stamp on left side of barrel. A strong, visible "DFC" David Clark ribbon on left side of stock. CONDITION: Barrel retains a 90% clean mix of patina mixing with fading blue. Frame case colors have faded. Sharp legends. Stocks are excellent to near mint with minor bruises and some finish added. Rifling is mirror sharp. An excellent, all original, lightly used, smooth example of a carbine that saw use in the Civil War, returned to the arsenal where it was updated for cartridge use and then used on the American Frontiers. A piece of US history that led to the expansion of the states after the devastating Civil War.
