This fine 1879 Saddle Ring Carbine has a sharp "SWP 1881" cartouche on left side for Sam Porter, and proof "P" on wrist. This carbine still has the pinned 1873 rear sight stamped "C", short fat wrist, smooth trigger, 1873 dated block, 1873 dated eagle sideplate with trapdoor butt, post front sight, and saddle ring and bar. CONDITION: Block has faded out. Balance of metal is soft, drifting patina, with razor sharp legends. Stock is excellent with usual handling marks. Bore exhibits sharp lands and grooves with some residue. A scarce 1879 carbine.
