Offered is a handmade birch bark canoe from Hafeman Boat Works of Big Fork, Minnesota, C. 1938. The likes of their work was featured on the CBS Sunday Morning Show "On The Road" hosted by Charles Kuralt, on June 17th, 1987. Constructed from classic ancient materials like birch bark, cedar ribs and planks, and spruce root threads as well as some more contemporary elements such as nails and a polyurethane finish. This fantastic piece is ready as an impressive display but would require some professional attention before dropping into the water. The port side prow has had a minor repair. The central support between gunwales, or thwart, is present but not connected because its threading has sheered.
